Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) -- Heating Pads

Question: *All Hot and Cold*-Do any models contain latex?
Answer: The back wrap products (HP1000, R1000WM, HC1201-N, HC1302-N, HC1520, and HC1500) do contain latex on the elastic straps. The rest of the hot/cold line does not contain latex. The cover is polyester and the pad itself is made of polystyrene plastic.
Question: *All Hot and Cold*-How do I register for my warranty?
Answer: We no longer have product registration. The terms of your warranty have not changed in any way. Simply hold on to your receipt and if you require service in the future please give us a call or send us an email.
Question: All Heating Pads-Do I need to use the heating pad cover?
Answer: Yes, the cover dissipates the heat evenly. Failure to use the cover may result in a burn.
Question: All Heating Pads-The box says my pad is a moist heat pad, how do I use this feature?
Answer: If your heating pad comes with an aquifer®, you need to wet the aquifer® and put it between the pad and the cover (Note: the aquifer® does not need to be dripping wet, only damp. Place that side of the heating pad against your body. The water will spread from the sponge to the cover. If your model is the type with the cord that detaches from the pad, you can spray the pad with water. Do not over saturate the pad, just a few sprays from a spray bottle should be fine. Never immerse the pad in water. For the microwave pads, you can spray the outer cover down with some water.
Question: Electric Heating Pads-How come the red light is flashing in the off position?
Answer: The heating pad needs to be reset. To do this, unplug the pad from the wall and leave it for ten minutes. Plug the pad back in and switch to the desired heat setting.
Question: Electric Heating Pads-How hot does the pad get?
Answer: TheĀ  temperature settings on the heating pads are determined by thermostats preset according to UL standards and specifications. The thermostats and temperature settings are checked regularly by UL inspectors and are carefully tested on each pad before it is shipped.

Temperatures range between 80 and 160 degrees Fahrenheit depending on your chosen temperature settings.
Question: Electric Heating Pads-My heating pad has an auto shutoff, how come the light stays on?
Answer: The auto shutoff refers to the heat coming from the pad. After an hour the unit will stop heating and the light will switch to stand-by. The only way to get the light to go off is to completely unplug it from the wall. Otherwise the light stays on to let you know that the pad is still plugged in.

*Studies have shown that keeping indoor air at an RH level of 40-60% reduces survival of flu viruses compared to lower RH levels. When used as directed, humidifiers can achieve and maintain 40-60% RH levels.
