Just received thermometer so I can't really say much about longevity, but it was quick and accurate and simple to use.
Fast Thermometer
New thermometer. Good and fast. Not tried with fever, but fits 2yr old, 4 yr old, and adults.
Second time buyer
This is the second unit I have bought. The first one was for my daughter to use for herself and her daughter. We've had no complaints. I like the fact that is uses AA batteries which are readily available.
Not working
Thermometer use to work great now it will not take a temperature.

FInally found it!
So happy CVS started carrying these thermometers - they're a bit pricy, but apparently the only thing that works - and I've spent far more than $50 or so on buying so MANY different thermometers, searching in vain for one that works!

I had this thermometer that I purchased on 2004 and had to throw it out today!!! lasted me all this years!! so went ahead and bought a new one now!!! Hope it lasts the same !!!:)
Works good
This thermometer works much quicker than the style we used to use which goes under your tongue. I really like the ease of use and that it gives you a digital reading down to the 1/10 degree. I would definitely recommend this ear thermometer to anyone who needs a fast and accurate temperature measurement.

I purchased our Braun Themoscan 5 today. Once I read through the instruction manuel it was very simple to use the thermometer. The hardest part was trying to find out how to register it on your web site. You should have a tab at the top of your web site front page saying register new products.
Accurate and easy
This is the 2nd Thermoscan we have owned. The first gave out after about 6 years. This one is fast, easy and accurate!! No more guessing if it is accurate!!
Fast and fantastic
I love it. A similar model by a different maker previously purchased in our home wasn't at all accurate, and when a degree higher or lower can mean the difference between needing to call the doctor and not, I needed something that worked. I bought this after scanning it with my smartphone app to compare prices to other retailers and reading a few reviews. It did not disappoint. It is quick, easy, and accurate. Just make sure you use it properly to get a good measurement. The instructions included are nice and clear about that. Highly recommended!
The most accurate
Someone gave me a Braun ear thermometer when I had my first child. 3 years later it got broken. When I had my second child I tried all kinds of other thermometers. I hated them. When I had my third child I went back to what I love. The Braun ThermoScan. I've used it ever since. All 4 of my kids, my husband and I all love it. It's fast and accurate and easy to use.

I don't use the product myself but I order it for the nurses and I haven't heard any complaints about the product.
Sleek, Compact Design
Previously owned a Braun ear thermometer which lasted more than 15 years. Purchased the Braun ThermoScan 5 and really like design; more compact. We like the pre-warmed tip technology and the improved angle and positioning. Have only used it once so far, but very pleased with it. Hoping this one lasts as long as the previous one.

I have use ThermoScans since 1994
I have used the ThermoScans since my oldest was a baby. He will be 17 in August this year (2011). I have five children. Through the years I have own about five of them. The eventually wear out, unfortunately, but each have lasted long enough for me to have built up trust in the product. I have found them to be very accurate. The best one I had, had a back-light for night time reads. I hope that the makers will again put back-ilghts back into the ThermoScan models, that is the one feature that I miss.

Really appreciate the speed and accuracy of this thermometer. With chronic illness and frequent fevers it is necessary to have a dependable thermometer.

Best one I have had
I have a 2 year old that has been sick what seems like once a month for this best year. This thermometer makes the fourth one I have tried, the second ear specific temparture reading scan, and it is the one I like most using on him. It is very easy to use and gives a temp virtually immediate. I like it alot and would recommend it to others.
Good, but the stand is silly
The thermometer definitely lives up to its billing, but it seems silly that the stand/case for it only lies flat/horizontally. The design should have been made such that it can stand up for better storage. Very silly to not have this.
