I really like the humidifier but it is a lot of upkeep because I use it nightly. It's a lot of work to keep it clean. Also, I was not able to buy the replacement cartridge where I bought my product at Walgreens.

Helps me Breathe
I've been very happy with this humidifier. It puts enough moisture in the air that you can breathe easier and wake up without dry mouth (for us allergy and sinus sufferers).

Works so far
Works easily out of the box; however, neither the box nor the website indicates if the unit will shut off when it runs out of water. If it doesn't, that seems like a needed feature for a unit of this cost.

Noisy
After using the V4500 no more that 5 times it became so noisy that it would keep the kids awake. The prongs on the lid that holds the micro-filter are also so fragile that2 prongs broke off. Wouldnt recommend this product. Not worth the money paid.

Could have used the coupon an hour ago.
Hmmm, Could have used the coupon about an hour ago when I was at Rite Aid.
I just bought this humidifier to replace the one I bought in February 2012 and used that one time for my sick son. Last night when I pulled that one out to use, it did not work. So off to Rite Aid I went today to replace the one that does not work.
A bit frustrated that the other did not work, the V5100NS was just as expensive as this one and I feel that it should have worked more than one time. In the past I have had humidifiers that lasted 10 plus years and cost a lot less.
I just set this one up and tested it briefly it seems to work, so far.

Vicks Filter Free Humidifier
I have recently had Nasal Surgery for a Chrinic Sinus problem and was having discomfort with dry eyes, nose and lips. My Dr. recommended I purchase the Vicks Humidifier for relief. It has worked wonders, no more dry nose or lips and my eyes have almost completely stopped tears.

V4450 model
I have the V4450 model which only has the one button not two on the side but otherwise looks the same. I couldn't find this on the drop down. I needed the cleaning instructions as I seem to have misplaced them.

Vick FilterFree
Nice design, no filter, but noisy even on low speed..Registration on line did not have correct model # listed. This is a modelV4450. Had to list as V4500 due to that fact.

I purchased a Vicks Model V4450 from my local (Phoenix, AZ) Wal-mart last week (09/19/2010). When I tried to register it online I could not find V4450 only V4500. Is V4450 a discontinued model? Is it under warranty? Thanks.

Great Product!
The air in my home was so DRY – it was really wreaking havoc on my nasal / upper respiratory tract. I went to rite aid out of desperation and bought the vicks V4500. I am really impressed with the product. I like it because it uses a new technology to naturally clean the water so you do not have to use distilled water and you can just use tap water, it works FAST and you feel immediate results especially when you breath directly from the blast of cool vapor mist, it has the ability to use soothing menthol aroma getting deep into the lungs, and it has a controllable thermostat to allow as much humidity into the air as you want. Plus, it’s quiet… I highly recommend this product to anyone – not just for kids. (I think my dogs like it, too!)

concerned and need help
I have used this humidifer two times and it quit working. The store will not take it back and I can't get through to anyone on the customer service line. I would like the same humidifier again....I think that this one is defective.

Decides when to start/ shut off.
This product determines when it comes on and off. I had it stop working for a few days and then it started working afterwards. I did turn the humidistat to the highest setting and even tried relocating the unit to another room. Emptying and drying out the unit for a few days did not help either.
This is actually a great product when it's working. Saves a lot of money since you do not need filters.

Good product
I purchased this product for my children as they seem to get sick easily. Only problem I've had with it is the cap that keeps the water in isn't very durable and leaks now. Otherwise the product works great and I would purchase another one if needed.

Great Product
This humidifier offers easy & simplicity of use. I like that the dials are illuminated. Not having to worry with replacement filters, but easy to order replacement Cleaning Cartridges & Scent pads. It is a well made product designed to do its job with very little maintainence.

Horrible
I bought two of these units and both just stopped working within one year. I cleaned them weekly following the directions but one just wouldn't turn on and the other emitted a burning smell when turned on.

Damaged New purchase
I just bought this humidifier and when I opened it the plastic fill cap and the piece that attaches to it were broken. The humidifier still works but I believe it will probably begin to leak because of this. When I went to take it back the store did not have anymore to exchange it for.I think you should send me these pieces to replace the ones that are broken.

no automatic shut off
This is a great machine, however for the price it should have an automatic shut off like the cheaper ones have. I am very disappointed because of it, but it is too late to return to store as manual says send to manufacturer. very inconvenient. Lesson learned

broke handle
I bought a vicks 4500 three months ago and was filling it up with water and the handle broke so then my wood floor was filled with water.. paid $40 for it at wal mart.

Not able to clean properly
I bought two of these humidifiers due to them being filter free and having a humidistat on them. I have used them now for about 2 months and I am very disappointed with the inaccessibility to clean the motor housing area. We cleaned the humidifier weekly but the motor housing area that could not be cleaned started to accumulate sludge. We attempted to remove screws to more easily access it but this only broke this poorly made machine. We have since had to throw away one unit and will try to limp the other unit through the winter and buy a new one next year. It will NOT be the same brand, nor would I recommend this brand to others!

Vicks V4500 Humidifier
First model we have bought that is totally cleanable. Others we have had gone too soon in our eyes due to not being able to clean all of the parts completely. Works good so far but have not had it very long. Good warranty.

Works great, too many lights
bet they would get ridMy wife and I purchased a V4500 on the advise of her Dr who said she needed more humidity in our bedroom. The V4500 works great but it has a lot of lights on it and it is hard to go to sleep with it lighting up the room. We are using tape, cardboard and a towel to hide the lights but I wonder if the designers of this have ever tried to sleep with one of these in their bedroom. I of the lights.

Humidifer-filter free
I purchased the vicks filter free humidifier for my kids. It really helps with breathing at night when the humidity is low. Just wish it was a little quieter and not so hard to clean. Wish it didn't get so slimmy on the inside. I do like it and it also helped me and my husband with our colds and his asthma this winter.

Good for about a month..
I have 3 of these units, 1 of which began creating a puddle of water on the floor next to it which I had to wipe up every hour or so... for some reason it shoots out actual water drops rather than vapor from one part of it which collects on the floor or table into a puddle. The other 2 units I have still work for the most part, but they are basically impossible to clean. They advertise "filter free" as if it's hassle free, but the fact is the inside of it gets dirty quick and there is no way to clean it properly.

Defects/Broken Parts
I have purchased two humidifiers from Kaz in the past 18 months and both have broken. I spent more money this time to prevent this from happening and yet it is still broken. I hope this does not happen again.

Vicks V4500 Filter Free Cool Mist Humidifier
I paid $40.00 (reg price) for this product at a Major retailor. Other places are selling it as high as $75.00 so make sure you comparison shop. The ease of use and very little maint( It takes me 5 minutes to clean in the morning) makes it a bargain and the inexpensive demineralize cleaning cartridge is a plus. No media filters means no stinky odors or slime build up. My daughter has been fighting a severe head cold and since I got this up and running it has aided in her recovery. I do not anticipate this Product ever going to a Goodwill store until end of life. I recommend this product to anyone who cares about thier childrens speedy recovery from Head colds.

Great output!
I got this humidifier 2 years ago but didn't really start using it until this year when I started getting sick and remembered I had it. This product is great because you can see the mist coming out, and it comes out fast and strong! I've had other one's and they just don't compare as far as the steam output is concerned. I liked this so much that I decided to go out and see about getting a second one to have on hand and alternate with while I cleaned it, but I can't find this model anymore. I don't know why they stopped carrying it, they need to bring it back because it works so well. I was glad to see it available here, but it seems a bit pricey compared to what I paid, so i'm hoping it comes back in the stores again. I noticed that cool-mist one's are generally faster than warm-mist, so that is what I buy now. Some warm-mist humidifiers are so slow and you can barely see anything coming out. It is also great that this has no filter to worry about, and i'm thinking maybe that's why they took it out of the stores because they weren't making money on that! I tend to run my humidifier all the time in the winter because it gets too dry. I don't have time to clean it every day, so I will clean it about once a week, more if I have time. It can be a little hard to clean, but if you use the vinegar and bleach like they say, then it's not so bad. I ended up getting the new ultrasonic one that is out in the stores (also by Vicks- I love Vicks now and that is the only brand I will buy). I will run one for about a week, or until the output slows or something, then I switch with the one that is clean, that way I always have it running! Also, this isn't just for a sick child. This is for any and every human being in the winter when it gets so dry! Great product! Love it!

disposable
Worked great the first few times, but when we pulled it out a month later to use it hardly produced any humidity. None of the humidifiers we've tried from Vicks seem to hold up over time so I would definitely try something else out there.
