Kaz Vicks Cool Mist Humidifier is just ok.
The Kaz Vicks Cool Mist Humidifier is ok. This unit does help balance low humidity in the winter months. However, it is not nearly as effective as the Warm Steam Humidifier. Unlike the Warm Steam unit, this cool mist unit generates white dust on flat surfaces & makes noise. For this reason, I don't use it in bedrooms at night. I already owned the Warm Steam Humidifier .... when I decided we needed another humidifier, I decided to try the Cool Mist. I should have just purchased another Warm Steam Humidifier.

Fairly loud but worked as white noise, otherwise, happy with product. After 6 months of use the motor went but may not be common problem. Hoping warranty will cover it. Friends preferred the animal looking kinds plus comment they are much quieter.
Works Well But Not for Bedroom Use
The output of moisture is very good but since it is not quiet, thus, not good for bedroom use. I use it in the living room!
gets the job done
I have had several of these over the years. Better than the sonic kind that leave white mist all over everything. This is very similar to the kind we had when I was little. Great for snuggling down in bed and hearing the white noise.

I thinlk that this a great product and like the humming noise that it makes because it is very soothing and relaxing. I could tell the difference in the air like five minutes after plugging it up.

I purchased the unit today and will be returning it tomorrow, how anyone could think of sleeping with that thing running is beyond me. I actually bought this at the retailer I work for, I will NOT recommend this to anyone.
Horrible Humidifier
This humidifier has leaked terribly, twice. I am returning it, hopefully to get fully refunded. The leaks were so bad that they drenched my drawers and everything inside. My one dresser top has bubbled the wood on top - horrible! Don't buy.
My Favorite Humidifier
I have now owned four of this (or similar) model over the years, just recently purchasing two new ones in January 2012. My last one finally gave up after years of daily use. I was very excited to see that this design is still being manufactured, so I got one for my wife and I and another for the kids' room.
Most of the negative reviews I've read around the web point to this unit's noise factor and the orange "mold" that may build up. I love the noise of this model... the soothing humming is calming and helps me sleep. The orange build-up inside, I believe, is due to the minerals and iron in our tap water. For a short while, I tried using only store-bought distilled water and the orange did not show up. The build-up easily wipes away with paper towels and the removable tine cleans up with cotton swabs and hot water. Follow the owner's manual for specific cleaning. When the humidity begins to increase, this unit leaves water around it. I solve this by placing a bathroom hand-towel under the unit (allowing it to hang out around the humidifier) to catch the excess moisture.
I hope that Kaz continues this line of humidifiers. You definitely have a customer for life here!!

Doesn't come on...
I bought this for my son and still have not managed to get it to come on. I've left water in it and turn the switch every couple hours hoping it will come on. I'm to the point of trashing it and going and buying a new one!
Love it
I love this humidifier it is the only type i have used for the last 15 years. it is easy to clean easy to fill easy to use. and it puts out a fair amount of vapor where most humidifiers today do not put out much vapor at all in order to make it seem like it is working for longer.

Very Noisy
I found the motor too loud for use. I returned it to the store for refund. The RCM-832N we had was much quieter so we bought another one just like it.
Too Noisy!
Works great to put moisture in the room but it's way too noisy! It's located in my daughters room across the hallway and it's so loud that it keeps me awake. I need to find a better one!
poor redesign of top
I bought the v 400 4 or 5 years ago , I have never had any problems with it. This new V400-2 , the top of it should have been left alone because it is pain in the but to get off,otherwise it works fine.
Way Too Noisy
This is the noisiest humidifier I have ever heard in my life. I would not recommend getting it. My kids cannot sleep with this in the room.
VERY LOUD!!!!
I bought this humidifier because it said it gave out a lot of moisture and was supposed to be quiet! I WAS WRONG! This machine sounds like someone s mowing my lawn in my room! Sometimes it keeps my awake in the night, and if by chance I can fall asleep....it wakes my in the night. If I knew this, I NEVER would have bought one. VERY DISAPPOINTED!

Great product! My son has used it for over a year now and I just purchased a replacement one. It seems to get build up in the mist holes at the top. That could be from the water in my area though. I do clean it weekly and it seems to help.
does the job well
This humidifier does the trick - it puts out a good amount of moisture with a quiet, white-noise whisper. It helps us all sleep better at night. I bought a similar model of Kaz humidifier years ago and it lasted for years so I bought this one to replace it.
It's good, not great
I expected to go through the whole tank of water during the night. It takes maybe two nights. Otherwise, it is quiet enough and works fine

Too Noisy
I initially liked this model because it was easy to clean. I bought two. But after a while the fan became noisier and noisier--on both models. Can't stand the noise, but otherwise it worked well
Horrible Noise

I love this model of humidifier if it is making to much noise for you to sleep buy a more expensive one. I for one like the white noise that this model emits it also puts out more moisture than the more expensive ones in my opinion. I am on my 10th one because when i put it away in the summer my daughters like to tear it apart and stand on it Breaking the impeller, i refuse to try different ones because every time i do i am disappointed.
