The UV801 Series was just what we were looking for. It covers over 1 acre of property with insect protection and it really is doing the job. It even scared aware the rabbits that have been eating our hosta garden like it was a salad made just for them.
The Stinger began working the minute we plugged it in. It even provides a great night light in the garden when we are stitting out in our gazebo after dark..
Faulty Product
The zapper does a great job, but one of the lights no longer works. I have tried replacing the bulb, but the product is faulty - one bulb works, one does not. I have tried all troubleshooting and am convinced the product needs to be replaced. I purchased a "one-year" warranty from Wal-mart, but have lost the receipt... the product says do not return to the store... what are my options?
works for one season only
I have purchased one of these units new each of the last two years. Put them up in the spring, take them down and clean them up good in the fall. Put them up again the next spring, after installing brand new bulbs, and they won't work. The electrical grid works, but the bulbs will not light up. Very unhappy, will not purchase another one.......

I got a new Stinger Bug ZapperU V 801 in 2011, the bulbs are already burned out, I talked to the lady at Kaz in Southborough, Mass. she stated that bulbs last usually one season, yet, the unit I had for almost 5 yrs. the bulbs did not burn out , so at $17.99 a bulb that is expensive esp. when it needs 2 bulbs to operate. Where in the literature does it tell you how long the bulbs will last with the unit operating 8 hrs. a day. Please let me know. Thanks.

Bought a Stinger model UV801-BL in January this year and just put it out two weeks ago and have a burned out bulb already--this is not good. I've had four or five of this model over the years and havn't had a years service out of any of them. Going to order a replacement and the look for other opitions.
Stinger Bug Zappers
I really like your Stinger bug zappers because they do work, but.... you have some serious product problems, as they're much too fragile and tend not to last long. We're gentle with them...we hang the unit in a tree and don't bang it around. Wind is not a problem. I've had 5 or 6 units in 4 years: 3 UVB45, 1 of the spaceship style that's no longer listed; and in just 2 months 2 units of the UV801-BL. In two of those units the bulbs quit working within 3-4 weeks. Bought a UB801 in March. Three weeks later 1 of the 2 bulbs go out. Open the the trapdoor & the bulb is cracked at the bottom of the u-turn. Bought replacement bulb and it lit-up for 3 seconds and died. Returned unit & new bulf to Wal-Mart. Bought another UB801 on May 12. One of the bulbs burned out last week. $20 a bulb. That's not good. Since one bulb's not working in the new unit, Wal-Mart's probably going to get this one back, too. I give you 3 stars because the idea of the Stingers is good and they start out working good. But I can't even get a month out them, much less a summer season. Maybe it should be 2 stars...?

Swimming Pool Bug Control
I can not give it more than 3 stars now since I have only had the Stinger one night. We have a 2 acre yard with a swimming pool. We live on part of a 50 acre dairy farm with a creek and woods on the backside. I put the Stinger in a tree out by the pool and as soon as I plugged it in it went to work. When I gout up at 5:00am this morning it was still working in overtime.
Had to clean it out from all the bugs it had got. If it keeps working like it dil last night I will sone be able to sit out by the pool longer at night. I am also thinking about getting another one and place it on the other side of the house.

The product that I purchased works very efficent to get rid of the mosquito around our area of the grove. I am very pleased with the results that the stinger does. i would recommend this item to anyone who has a problem with mosquitos. Thank You
It worked for a while
the black light went out last week and I've tried cleaning it, which it had a lot of dead bugs but after pluging the unit back in, it still did not work. It does not attract bugs at night anymore. I have had it less than one month.

This is the 2nd UV801 BL Stinger I have purchased. I am very pleased with this product. It allows me to enjoy sitting outside without being "eaten alive". Great product at a great price

Large and In charge!
I did not realise when i purchased this it was so large but now that we have it WE LOVE it! It does the job very VERY well. Big bugs little bugs, flies, moths... Bzzzt. No problems with it. When the beetles fly into it they touch the grid and that is the end of them. We have not saw 1 single mosquito since buying this zapper. we can actually enjoy our open air front porch now that the bugs are not dive bombing and Snacking on us. Could not be to much happier with the product. Thank YOU!

short life
This is the forth UV801 that has quit for me. Have sent three back for replacement. This one was deliveried Feb.3rd.2011. One bulb quit 4 days ago today the other one quit. They first turn red at the top and then quit. I don't know what the problem is, but either faulty design,inferior materals or poor workmanship is to blame for so many going bad. when i bought this not quite 3 yrs ago i just luv this thing i dont have to worry about anything anymore but i have to replace the buld in it cuz it went out or is going out i would recommend this project to anyone for a bug protector

Stinger 1.5 acre bug zapper
So far the product has been working great. However, we have had to purchase several of these units over the past many years due to the fact that they burn out or fail after 1-2 years of use. Hopefully we won't need to send any of these back to you for warranty work in the near future.

This is amazing, it really works so well especially when the sun goes down, we have ours about 10 feet away from house and all the bugs go to it instead of us. You won't even need any sprays. works FANTASTIC at night, but during the day, the bugs are not attracted by the light (as expected) I guess that is what the scent piece is for to attract during the day.

This stinger has attracted and killed quite a few insects. It works well, but it does draw more insects. I would like to see this machine be able to attract and kill wasp! Seems it should be a way for it to do that. Maybe a different attractant and color bulb?
Over all I am quite satisfied with the preformance so far!

It is a better design than all of the smaller models. I live in the woods and it has to be cleaned out every couple of weeks. To clean it, the plastic cover must be removed to brush the metal grid (I do not have compressed air.) I definitely attracts a lot of moths, mosquitos, and hornets. The packaging for shipping needs improvement. The last unit that I purchased arrived with one of the bulbs broken. There was no visible damage on the outside of the box. Previously, I have received a unit that had the plastic outer cover broken due to damage in shipment. The high voltage transformer is reliable but the ballasts for the fluorescent bulbs do not last all the way through a second season.

JUST GOT THE 2 INSECT LIGHTS. THEY CAME WITH BLACK LIGHT BULBS - AND ARRIVED WITH 3 OF THE BULBS BROKEN. tHEY WERE REPLACED AND THEY ARE UP AND I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW GREAT THEY ARE WORKING!! THE BLACK LIGHT SEEM TO ATTRACT MORE BUGS THAN EVER. WE HAVE TO CLEAN THE LIGHT EVERY OTHER DAY BECAUSE IT FILLS UP SO FAST. THANK YOU FOR THE MANY YEARS OF SERVICE WE HAVE HAD WITH YOUR PRODUCTS.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the product. I am shocked (no pun intended) at the volume of bugs that it kills! Wish we had gotten it sooner. Might even think about getting a second one for the farm in the future.
Would make a suggestioin that the bulbs not be shipped installed in the bug zapper. There was not enough padding on the bulbs and they arrived broken. The replacements were sent very promptly which was greatly appreicated.

These units while sold almost everywhere are cheap and have a very short life....2 units in less than a week.....seriously this product is also come to find out under recal although they will not mention this until you bring them back when they quit working.

Gotta like this company. No hassle return policy. Told me to ship without the bulbs to avoid breakage so I thought they'd fix and return my broken unit without bulbs - but no. Within 2 weeks they sent a brand new unit - bulbs and all. The cost of the bulbs more than makes up for the cost to ship the bad unit back to Kaz. This is the kind of business that deserves your support. Good product and they stand behind it!

recieved the bug zapper and it worked great, for a week and a half. contacted costomer service and they sent me a return lable. recieved the new unit and only one bulb would light. aparently the bulb was broked in transit. contacted cs and they sent me a new bulb that i recieved yesterday. i installed the bulb and it still wouldnt light, thinking the replacement bulb was bad i swapped bulb positions to ensure the bulb was bad. when i plugged the unit in it went blink and the bulb lit for a split second and now back to square one no bulbs will light on the second unit. i dont know if these units are defective or the shipper is damaging these in transit. in all fairness to kaz their cs is exceptional but by the time i have another one sent (third one) the season will be over and i could possibly be stuck with another defective unit thatll set through the winter im asking for a refund upon reciept of the unit and will buy one locally to avoid any more shipping issues. the unit works awsome when it works but unfortunately it doesnt work so the bad review.

I have two of the 1.5 acre stinger units and both have the same problem - the bulb opposite the power cord fails to light after about a week. Changing bulbs will damage the replacement. The start circuit has a flaw on that side. It works great with one lamp and will zap anysize bug.
I would give it 5 stars except for the lamp problem.
