Great Item
Was looking for a low cost, silent room heater to keep my rec room warm this winter without having to run my furnace at a higher temperature. Did some homework and bought this item after it received a great review in a recent issue of Consumer Reports. Item works great and was exactly what I was looking for.
Nice heater
This is a nice sized sturdy warm heater. The heat emitted is a good gradient heat. The only thing I dislike are the temperature increments of which are 5 degrees. It may not sound like much but i noticed if I set it at 65/70 the room is a little cool. If I turn it up, the room is a little too warm. This occurred during 40/50 temp at night, so I imagine it will work better when it gets colder. There is a quick heat option which works well. Overall I'm happy with the product.

This HZ-817 does not appear to be very well made. Something is wrong with the fan (noisy and causes a rattle) and I am now in the process of returning it for replacement. While all this was going on, I ordered an HZ-519 which appears to be well made and with a nice style. Also the 1 degree adjustment on the 519 is superior to the 5 degree adjustment on the 817.
Could you replace the 817 which has not yet been returned with the 519?

This unit works well and heats up the room you are in. Well design and seems to be made of good quality parts. Nice safety feature with the emblem on the grill. Easy to use and will be great for keeping the baby's room warm.

This is not instant heat. Takes a long time to heat a room; the fan moves a very low volume of air. Once the room is warm, it maintains heat adequately.

I cannot figure how Consumer reports rated this a best buy! My old heater, at 1200 watts, works far better. I can't recommend it. It will be a cold winter!

Your service was superior. The Consumer Reports review of the product was right on. Your price was the best I could find on the internet. I use it in a large north facing room in upstate NY where the radiant heat doesn't work very well and so far so good. Hope this helps

We have a large bedroom in the upstairs of our home and we purchased this heater. The heater works great! It really warms up the room quickly. We can use the quick heat button for a faster warm up too! It is very quite also.

I purchased two of these units after reading dozens of reviews at various sites. This was, by far, the most economical site. The units were received in a few days. I unpacked them, plugged them in, and have been using them from that moment on without a problem. One is used in my aging mother's room - to keep her warm when we keep the house thermostat down to save money. It is the best heater I've ever owned.

After purchasing a heater every year without them lasting, I heard of yours. The weather has just turned chilly here and I am loving your heater. It does not seem to take all the moisture out of the air and gives a warm and quiet heat. in fact I checked to see about ordering another and they are out of stock. Hope you have them in soon.

I love the way it heats up so quickly and the fan is very quiet. The thermostat keeps it from wasting energy when not needed. It does a great job! I wish it had a safety handle to move it around with. Also I'm glad it has an indicator to let you know if the grill is hot. I feel it gets too hot for babies even before the indicator turns red. I would recommend it to anyone who doesn't have small children at home.

This little heater is great, heats the whole room without using a lot of energy! Would recommend that everyone get one, especially if you aren't quite ready to turn on the whole house furnace!

This heater is great. I love the quick heat button. Once it warms up you can put the heater on a temperature setting. I used it this fall to take the cold out of the room in the evenings so we would not have to turn the furnace on. I have a man cave in the basement and it warms it up great. I think its a great room heater. I recommend it.

Floor heater
Gives an adequate heat over time, but is slow to heat a 12 x 20 room. Had better luck with a fuel heater in the past, but this is obviously more safe. The sides do not get hot so can be lifted, but there are no handles. It stands from the floor so the rug will not get hot.
A Great Heater!
We bought this heater to maintain a higher temperature in Mom's room. She's 89 and likes it very warm.
I plugged it ion right out of the box, and it'd been going strong for about a month. So far we love it, and highly recommend it.
It came up as a top contender in a variety of reviews, with a few bad marks from folks who wrote that it is not good as an only heat source. That may be, but as supplimental heat it's fantastic.

Love this heater. It is silent and efficient. The "current tempurature" indicators don't seem to work, and when they do they are not accurate which is why this does not get 5 stars. I have not tested the tip over safety feature. The heater heats the whole room fairly quickly and maintains a high heat level.

This unit performs well. The unit is silent. It has a small fan to get a quicker warmth. We never need the fan. The room we heat is on concrete slab and is typically cool in the winter. This adds just enough to take the chill out.

It works well. There is only so much output that a plug in heater can provide but it's a good one especially if you're in a confined space.
Fantastic Heater!
The Honeywell heater is exactly what we needed! I'm glad we followed up on choosing it after reading Consumer Reports. Being in the South, people don't realize that in Northern Georgia, we get snow, ice and temps below freezing and in the low teens. And unfortunately, there is not a lot of winter weatherizing done to windows so rooms do get very cold. This heater, in a very short amount of time made the room cozy and I did not have to worry about having to turn it off when it reached temperature. I would recommend this heater to anyone.

My fault
I was quite disappointed when I received this heater to find that it was quite hot when running. That's my fault - for some reason I just assumed that heaters made today would be safe to touch. Since I'm ancient and have a small grandson this is not the heater I will use where I had planned to use it - in the room we use the most. This will be relegated to use only when I'm home by myself. Next time I'll have to be more thorough in my review before purchasing. Very disappointed.

Instead of spending globs of $$ on heating an entire house at 70 plus degrees, I selected a Honeywll space heater after research on Consumer reports. It was reasonably priced and so far has worked very well. For small to medium sized rooms it is fine with the variable settings. Have not yet tried it in the spacious living room with high cathedral cielings. But with the gas central heating set at 60, I am sure that my savings this winter will be considerable. Awaiting my first electric bill to compare to last year. So far so good. Except it's made in China. Surely we have people willing to make this here? Honeywell?

This is the best I ever bought. The thermostat regulate well. I use it in the bathroom and guest bedroom. It it quiet and heats the room quickly. I bought one last year and liked it so well I bought another this year. I highly recommend this heater.

Have been using this heater for several weeks now. After the initial warm up of the large room it is in, it has maintained a good temp.
I have not received a full electric bill yet, so not sure how that will affect my view of this heater. So far I am very pleased with this product.

Works great in keeping big and small rooms warm at the same temperature, it's very very quit even with the fan on, great for bed rooms, but the black metal front gets hot, so it's not safe to put it were young kids can touch it, they should have some sort of safety cover for it

Product was defective and has been returned. Temperature control would work only on 65 degrees unpon receipt 14 November 2011. I called service desk a few days later and was advised that I would receive a shipping label to return the product.
I bought this model after reading a review in Consumer Reports and was surprised by the defect and assured by the service desk that they'd had no other similar problems. Service desk was very couteous and helpful. UPS shipping label was received this past weekend and I took the product to UPS 28 November 2011 for return.

I purchased the HZ817 heater to heat a 20 X14 four season's room that had no central heat.. It works! It replaced a EdenPure Gen3 heater that was junk from the day I bought it and never did an acceptable job. My new heater makes no noise, heats the room effortlessly and even lends a little heat to the adjoining room! I would recommend it to anyone. The only thing I don't know yet is the efficiency as I have yet to receive an electric bill since I started using it. But the price of the unit alone is awesome!

I received my order in a timely manner, but didn't receive the Tracking Info until the day before i received the HZ-817 Heater. I've only turned the Heater on long enough to check out the controls. They work just fine, the heater is quiet & warmed up fast. I am very satisfied over all with my order & got a very good deal on the price & free shipping. Only Time & some use of the Heater will tell how well it holds up but it seems to be well built.

A good heater for a small room of 10X10X6 ft, raising the temperature by 5-10 F in about 1hour when the outside temp was 40F. I have not run it at the highest setting, but the cord and plug remained cool to the touch when the heater was set for 75F.

This heater provides sufficient BTUs to heat a room that is 12' by 15'. While it does takes a while to raise the temperature in the room, its built in thermostat maintains the temperature to which the unit has been set.
The only drawback that I encountered involved the built in fan. I would have liked a more powerful unit to circulate the heated air more quickly.

The first year of use we loved this space heater. It fulfilled our needs, but after a year of use the space heater caught fire. Still waiting to hear back from customer service. Aside from the malfunction, it is a great product.
